Course Overview and Guidelines

Welcome to the course! I'm super excited and honored to have you here with me!

Over the next several months, I will walk you through the 7 Step process I use with patients in my private practice here in Charlotte, NC.

I have been doing this for many years and have watched hundreds of children’s chronic medical conditions either melt away for resolve altogether. I can’t wait to share this information with you!

IMPORTANT:

The information included in this on-line course is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice. You should consult your own healthcare provider to determine the appropriateness of the information for your own situation or if you have questions regarding a medical condition or treatment plan. Participation in this on-line course will not form a physician-patient relationship.

General Guidelines

This course is designed to take you from worrying about your child’s illness and wondering what to feed him or her, to feeling confident that you are doing everything you can to not only get your child back into balance, but also to set him or her up for a lifetime of great health! Over the next several months, I will walk you through the 7 Step process I use with patients in my private practice here in Charlotte, NC. The huge benefit of this program is that you will also set your entire family up for great health now and into the future!

How to work through the content: There are 6 Modules, 12 hours of videos, 30 handouts and 32 recipes. I estimate it will take you about 48 hours to go through the entire course assuming you may put in 2 to 3 hours of reading handouts and contemplating the material per hour of video instruction. I strongly consider you do this with several friends. It will be easier to make changes when you have support around you! You could do it like a book group and each time you meet, agree upon what you will watch and then discuss what you are learning and how you will implement the changes.

Each concept and module builds upon the next, so if we pace it over a 6-month period of time, the amount of time it takes to go through everything works out to about 2 hours per week. It is important to understand how you learn. If you are someone who can pace yourself easily, you may be able to set a schedule and stick with it. If you are like me, I am a sprinter. I would probably sit down once a month and do all 8 hours at one time.

It is crucial to take action after each module. Please don’t wait until you watch everything to begin to make changes. Follow the steps after each module. Your child’s body may not tolerate all the changes at once and may actually feel worse before they begin to feel better if you try to do too many things at the same time. This is why we do it in a step-by-step fashion.

In terms of supplements, we will begin to add them in module 2. I have a supplement overview video where I will go over the exact products I recommend. If you want to get them ordered all at once, you will save on shipping, and then you will have them on hand when we are ready to start them. We only start supplements one at a time for 5 to 7 days at a time before stating the next one. So if your child has any type of reaction to the supplement, you know what they are reacting to.

I can’t stress enough the importance of making these changes slowly. It is critical to your success in this process! Have fun, enjoy and know that I am rooting for you!

Program Overview

Six Modules - Each module contains several videos. There is an introduction, the action items for that module and the course videos. There is a handout for each module called “Action Items”. This is designed to help you plan step by step in terms of meals for your family, including recipes. This is a written explanation of what to do for that module.

Action items – It is extremely important that you take action after each module and not wait to begin. Even if you can’t make a huge change, please just begin taking small steps. Each step builds on the next and I would like each of you to have a fantastic and uplifting experience in our time together!

Handouts – There are handouts throughout each module. These are designed to make it easy for you to follow my recommendations. In addition to the action items, these handouts contain information such as supplement dosing, the RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) for things like calcium, Vitamin D, iron and protein, how to do an elimination diet and much more. You are free to download and save these for future reference.

Questions – Should you have any questions about technical or clerical things, please email [email protected]. We will do our best to respond within 24 to 48 hours. If you have more detailed questions about the nutrition changes and how your child is doing, please ask them in the Facebook Group. I am unable to answer detailed and specific medical questions about your child by email or in the Facebook Group but I am happy to answer general nutrition questions and questions about the process!

Bonuses

Login Support Pass – This idea was born of the comments I have gotten over the years in my individual practice about moms not feeling fully supported by grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbors, teachers, babysitters, daycares, or the child’s doctor. I encourage you to share this link with someone you think might actually login and watch the material. I want you to have as much support as possible implementing the lifestyle changes I recommend in this program. We live and thrive in community and I love the idea of you having fun and enjoying these new concepts! Eating is such a big part of our social network and being able to share this information with those you love and with those who help you care for your child is imperative to your success!

Private Facebook Group – This is a place to get support, share successes, share setbacks or frustrations, ask questions and share recipes. This is solely for support. My team and I will not be able to answer individual detailed medical questions on Facebook. However, we will absolutely be able to answer general nutrition questions! If your name on Facebook is different than the name you signed up for the course with, please email my team at [email protected]. Otherwise you may not get accepted into the Facebook Group!

The Modules

Welcome and Overview - Please start here to get an overview of the 7 Steps we will be walking through.

Module 1 - The Assessment (Step 1)

This is where I will teach you how to look at your child’s medical history and understand how seemingly unrelated things are actually related. We will also do this with your family history.

There are two fillable forms for this module (be sure to first download and save the forms before filling them out, otherwise your information might be lost!) One of the fillable forms is the Assessment. This is for you to write down your child’s medical history so you can fully understand it. The second is a Symptom Tracker. This is where I teach you how to follow your child’s physical symptoms to know when we are making progress and how to know his or her systemic inflammation is improving.

Actions: Removing dairy from breakfast and adding in a green smoothie.

Supplements: Nothing yetJ

Module 2 – Inflammation and Illness & Triggers of Inflammation (Steps 2 and 3)

I teach the concepts of inflammation and illness, the triggers of inflammation and I discuss food and environmental allergy testing, along with recurrent ear infections and wheezing.

I also give you the overview on supplements and how to order them if you want to get that process started. If you order them all at once you can save on shipping. Here is the link: This video in this module also contains information on how to order supplements from my website.

Actions: Remove dairy from lunch

Supplement: Probiotic

Module 3 – Gut Health (Step 4)

I teach about gut health, leaky gut, and the 4 R approach to healing leaky gut. Then I go through each different disease process and talk about the research regarding nutrition and gut health as it relates to: colic, eczema, asthma and reflux, and constipation and abdominal pain. Please watch each of these videos even if your child does not have one of these illnesses. The concepts are universal and are extremely important to understanding the bigger picture now and as it applies to your child’s and family’s health in the future.

Actions: Remove dairy from dinner and snacks

Supplement: Digestive Enzyme

Module 4 – Food (Step 5)

I go through the broader picture of food, why it is important to feed our kids foods free of pesticides and artificial dyes and colors. I address the inflammatory effects of gluten and dairy as well as the harmful effects of sugar. It is often eye opening to truly understand how much sugar our kids eat!

I don’t think any one diet is perfect for everyone and I address this in the last video of the module.

Actions: Remain fully off of dairy for at least 3 to 4 weeks. If you have seen big improvements off of dairy, please remain off of dairy.

Supplement: Fish Oil and Vitamin D

Module 5 – Supplements (Step 6)

Actions: Continue your new good healthy eating habits! Sit quietly for 2 minutes each day and breathe deeply, set a timer. Then write down three things you are grateful for and three things that make you uniquely qualified to be the amazing parent that you are to your childJ

Supplement: Whole Food Supplement

Module 6 – The Roadmap (Step 7)

I share with you how powerful vision boards can be and the process I recommend you use to make one. PLEASE set aside an hour to do this! I assure you it makes the difference between enjoying the life you dream of and settling for the status quo!

I address the strong impact stress has on our health and its impact on those around us including our children. I discuss the placebo effect and how powerful our minds are. Research shows we can think ourselves well or sick. Talking about how strong your child’s immune system is instead of how weak it is can be a great first step!

The important message is to put your own oxygen mask on first! Once you are feeling grounded, peaceful, and happy in your life, you will be far more effective at helping your child and family get well!

I go over the Roadmap for food and elimination diets. What to do moving forward about gluten and dairy. And for those of you who need more individualized help, I talk about this as well.

Actions: Creating a Vision Board

Supplement: The Roadmap for Supplements

Now let's get your child thriving again!

Pacing of this course

I originally thought this would be a 6-week course... that makes me laugh now:)

This course is 23 years of my schooling, clinical and life experience into 6 modules. It is packed with great information and I really want you to absorb it and integrate it into your life.

I think ideally this is a 6-month course. You can take one-month to go through each module, absorb the information, discuss the concepts on our Private Facebook Group and with your like-minded friends at home, and then move on to the next module.

Most of all have fun and enjoy!

Sheila
